Uncertain times at Bundaleer

Senior management has contacted the HSU regarding the proposed merger of Bundaleer with another, as yet unnamed, aged care provider. I understand that this is an unsettling and uncertain time for all members. When major workplace change happens, you have rights and your Union is by your side.

You have the right to:

  1. Be consulted about the change. Consultation includes time to consider the change, to raise concerns, and to have those concerns properly considered.
  2. Say no. Contracted hours cannot be cut without your approval. Cuts to jobs can occur, but only with a redundancy or redeployment to a comparable position.
  3. Representation. Ensure you are represented by the HSU when discussing major workplace change.
  4. Request any changes to your job be provided in writing and time to consider your response. Don’t feel rushed. Major changes to your job can have lasting impacts for you and your family.
  5. Join the HSU! Only HSU members get representation and advice to stand up for their rights and protect their job.

Your local organiser Karen Wiles will be meeting with management early in the new year to ensure you have a voice in this process. Karen can be contacted on 0408 164 519 or [E-Mail not displayed].

If you know someone who isn’t a union member, share this newsletter and encourage them to join. In the face of possible changes, union members at Bundaleer stand united to fight for the interests of workers and residents. New members can join at www.hsu.asn.au/join or phone 1300 478 679.
