Unified Summer Edition 2022/23

Read all about it in the new HSU Unified Magazine Summer Edition.

This edition of Unified looks back on our members’ achievements during 2022. You’ll also read about the latest HSU campaigns and activity in workplaces.

This month, the HSU launched an advertising campaign on TV and social media to get the public talking and ask the question, where is the health dollar going? $33 billion dollars – that’s a third of the state budget – goes toward public health. So why aren’t health workers seeing it in their pockets? It’s time to demand a Royal Commission into health spending.

2022 has brought many changes in the aged care sector. Recently, the Fair Work Commission passed down an interim decision granting pay increases of 15% for some aged care workers – but not all. This isn’t fair. HSU members are continuing to stand united to campaign for a 25% for all members – regardless of where they work in aged care.

This year was a big year for private health members and 2023 will be even bigger. The private health division has unprecedented growth in membership across all worksites, showing that workers know they deserve better. In 2023, we will continue to push for significant improvements across the private health sector.
