Following the interim decision in the HSU’s historic aged care work value case in November 2022, direct care workers with Certificate III qualification at S’Antonio Da Padova expected their hourly rate to increase to $30.11.

However, following a review, members were shocked to discover they were not being paid the correct rate and contacted their organiser.

The HSU wrote to management in collaboration with members to raise the issue and management have now agreed to pay the correct rate – with backpay to the date of implementation, 30 June 2023.

Management only agreed to rectify the situation because members stood together and called out the issue.

Last Friday, 15 March, the Fair Work Commission announced their final decision on our case. HSU members in direct care roles have won increases of between 18 and 28 per cent, inclusive of the interim increase!

HSU members will be watching out to make sure management passes on the latest pay increase ordered by the FWC.
