Warrigal Pay Offer: Know your rights & have your say

HSU members at Warrigal have made our pay claim very clear - we are seeking a minimum 5% pay increase for all employees.

Everyone has worked hard throughout the pandemic, and we continue to work in challenging circumstances every day with staff shortages and under resourcing. We all deserve a decent pay increase, to recognise our hard work and to ensure Warrigal is a great place to work.

Currently, Warrigal is offering a pay increase that is well below this for most staff. This current offer is also divisive, because it favours certain staff over others. Your HSU delegates have taken this message to management and we are waiting to hear their response. HSU members will keep campaigning to for a decent pay increase for all Warrigal employees. We need to stick together, to get a fair outcome for everyone.

Remember: Your rights (and responsibilities) in Enterprise Bargaining

  • HSU members are campaigning a minimum 5% pay increase for all employees. Warrigal are currently offering staff between 0.9% to 15.4% in the first year.
  • The current offer is below current CPI for most staff and is divisive by favouring some staff over others.
  • All HSU members need to understand the offer and what it means for you. If you have any questions, please talk to your HSU Delegates or Organisers.
  • Every Warrigal employee will get to vote on the enterprise agreement, but only those staff who vote will be counted. We encourage everyone to vote and have their say.
  • If a majority of votes say ‘Yes’, then the offer will be accepted, but if a majority of votes say ‘No’, then the offer will not be accepted.
  • The bargaining period does not end if staff do not accept Warrigal’s offer. The HSU will continue bargaining with Warrigal and we will keep campaigning for a fair pay offer.
  • Warrigal and HSU must follow the good faith bargaining rules in the Fair Work Act, which includes attending and participating in meetings, giving genuine consideration to proposals and refraining from unfair conduct. If Warrigal do not follow these rules, the HSU can take action in the Fair Work Commission.
  • All HSU members are represented by the union in bargaining. If you’re not a union member – make sure you join up so that you’re represented.
