Westmead CASB Update: Management no show to final WHS inspection

In relation to the opening of the new Emergency Department and the transition of services to the new Clinical Acute Services Building, we wanted to inform members that management from the Redevelopment team failed to show up to the final Work Health and Safety inspection at 8am today, Friday 5th February.

We know our members are dedicated health professionals and are looking forward to working in a state-of-the-art building with the most modern technology. However, the safety of staff in new health facilities should be a high priority.

With all this mind, the HSU previously wrote to the General Manager requesting a 4-week postponement of the opening date. With no reply as yet forthcoming, we are also writing to the Minister of Health asking him to intervene.

Further meetings are due to go ahead next week and members will be informed of any developments. Members are encouraged to contact your HSU representatives by email [E-Mail not displayed] or phone 1300 478 679 if you have any safety concerns.

With many challenges ahead, Union membership has never been more important.

Being a member of the HSU is the only way to be certain your voice will be heard. Speak with your colleagues who haven’t yet joined and invite them to help achieve a safer workplace – together. They can join at www.hsu.asn.au/join or call 1300 478 679.

If you have questions or concerns, please contact your Organiser via [E-Mail not displayed] or mobile 0425 181 361.
