Guard of Honour: Members honoured on the field at Bulldogs VS Sharks game

Sheets of rain and chilling wind couldn’t stop the excitement buzzing at Commbank Stadium ahead of the Bulldogs vs Sharks game this July.

Nearly 20 HSU members, including patient transport officers, paramedics, cleaners and wardspersons lined up on the field as the Guard of Honour, welcoming the Canterbury Bankstown Bulldogs.

Dressed in their uniforms, donning pink and white beanies and plastic ponchos, HSU members were all smiles as fireworks and loud applause began. The weather did nothing to dampen the spirits of the crowd, cheering their support for our members.

This Guard of Honour adds to the continued support of the sporting team over the last two years, specifically the ‘Thank You Healthcare Workers’ campaign.

While the impacts of the pandemic are still being felt, we go forward with gratitude for our health workers and communities.

The HSU applauds this continued recognition of health workers, and look forward to working with the Bulldogs in the future.
