BREAKING: NSW Labor commits to 100% salary packaging for HSU members

WATCH GERARD HAYES MESSAGE TO MEMBERS HERE

As you know, the NSW State Election will be held this Saturday. I can now tell you NSW Labor has announced that – if elected to government – it will deliver 100% of salary packaging tax benefits to HSU members. You can view the letter from Labor leader Chris Minns here.

HSU members will always fight for the best possible outcomes for workers and for their communities. An election is a rare opportunity for HSU members to demand that politicians deliver concrete improvements for health workers.

It’s outrageous that members should have to share their tax savings with their employer. This commitment from Labor will reverse a long-standing injustice and put money back into hard-working health workers’ pockets.

Please watch my message to members here.

Unfortunately, Dominic Perrottet’s Liberal party have not made the same commitment to members. Nor have they agreed to the other HSU demands that Labor will honour: removing the unfair 2.5% wages cap, backing a Royal Commission into NSW Health spending, and negotiating professional recognition for our paramedics.

Voting is an important part of our democracy, and a personal decision for you to make. While the HSU will never tell you how to vote, it’s important that all members are provided with the facts in order to make a decision.

Know someone who isn’t an HSU member? Encourage them to join our Union today and have a say at work. We are always stronger when we stand together.
