Consultation re Assistants in Medical Radiation Sciences

This week, the HSU received correspondence from the NSW Ministry of Health to advise of their intention to implement a determination for Assistants in Medical Radiation Sciences.

The proposed determination seeks to create a classification where third and final year Radiography and Nuclear Medicine students could be employed to temporarily supplement the existing workforce.

It is proposed that the determination be time limited and authorise students to be employed up to 6 months working up to 32 hours per week on a fixed term/casual basis.

The HSU is reaching out to radiology members who expressed their interest in being a part of the working group. A zoom meeting has been arranged for Friday 6 May at 1pm to gather members’ views and feedback around the proposed determination.
