Healthscope Update Major Change

HSU lodged an urgent dispute with the Fair Work Commission against Healthscope, because of significant redundancies they are trying to roll out. After the HSU forced Healthscope to the table they have agreed to:

  • Provide evidence of why the redundancies are necessary.
  • Work with HSU and engage in genuine consultation to try and save jobs.
  • Give 24 hours notice before any individual meeting and invite a union representative.

But Healthscope have said they may still push forward with redundancies before the consultation finishes! So there is still a chance that the HSU may need to run unfair dismissal cases. Healthscope has said they are making people redundant because of financial difficulties. So your union has asked for a large amount of information, including:

  • Evidence of why the redundancies are needed including financial impact statements, further broken-down facility by facility.
  • Evidence that the organisation has had a reduction of 14% activity based on pre-pandemic levels
  • Number of employees Healthscope are trying to make redundant.
  • How many employees have been made redundant and how many have been redeployed.

The HSU meet with Healthscope on Monday at 3pm, which proved to be unproductive as Healthscope refused to provide the above information. Healthscope has stated that they will supply some information on Wednesday.
