HSU members launch dispute against Stella Maris

In October 2023, HSU members raised concerns with Stella Maris about classification errors and corresponding underpayments. The HSU requested Stella Maris undertake an audit of staff’s classifications and corresponding rates of pay.

Despite multiple requests, management still has not provided us with any evidence that they have acted on members’ concerns, nor taken steps to remedy any underpayments.

Management’s latest correspondence to the HSU on 14 February 2024 stated that the Board had been made aware of the underpayments, and affected staff would receive communications in the next couple of days. However, no details on the audit, nor plan to remedy any underpayments have been provided.

This lack of genuine communication from management is unacceptable and is a sign of complete disrespect towards union members. We have escalated the matter as a formal dispute to the Fair Work Commission, in order to force your employer to take action.

Stay strong and keep the pressure on your employer to make good on any underpayments!
