Meredith House Redundancy Dispute Update

  • Published May 11, 2022

Following the closure of Meredith House, members have reported that their redundancy payments are far below what they were expecting. In addition, it also became clear that Meredith House had not complied with their own EBA by stating they needed two weeks to pay the redundancy after termination when the EBA sets out 3 days.

Your Union has contacted Meredith House management to notify them of the breach and informed them that unless the matter was resolved, a dispute will be taken to the Fair Work Commission.

Meredith House has requested more time to respond. This is not good enough. You deserve to be paid your entitlements. The Fair Work Commission has been notified and a hearing has been set for next Tuesday 17 May.

Thank you to everyone who has sent through their information already. If you haven’t already, please include your own redundancy calculation, your age and length of service at Meredith House. We have requested Meredith House to explain their calculations before we can contest them which is part of the ongoing dispute.

If you believe you have been underpaid your redundancy and have not made contact, please email your local organiser Emmett at [E-Mail not displayed].
