Pay freeze fightback - update

First of all, congratulations to the members standing united and taking action today. The fight is far from over, and we are holding strong.

As many would know, the Treasurer announced in the budget today that the wages cap would return to 2.5%, rather than 1.5%. We want to be clear that this doesn’t mean that we have forgiven or forgotten the pay freeze. We are still fighting for this year’s 2.5%, as well as the remaining 2.2% from last year, 100% of our salary packaging, an investigation into the effectiveness of ProQA and the opportunity to put forward a professional wage case outside of the wages policy.

This is the bare minimum that members deserve.

So, what are the next steps?

Unfortunately, with the uncertainty of the current COVID situation in Sydney, the rally planned for Wednesday the 23rd of June has been postponed. We will revisit this action when appropriate and effective to do so.

A stop work will be called in a few days to discuss what comes next. Keep an eye out for updates.
