Your Moran Agreement: Have your say on the proposed EA

Following several negotiation meetings, Moran Aged Care have proposed a new enterprise agreement for staff. The new EA would be a short two-year agreement and would be back dated to 1 July 2021.

Moran are offering a wage increase of 2.25% each year, split across two payments. The wage offer is:

  • 1.25% from first full pay period on or after 1 July 2021
  • 1% from first full pay period on or after 1 January 2022
  • 1.25% from first full pay period on or after 1 July 2022
  • 1% from first full pay period on or after 1 January 2023

In addition to the pay increases, management have agreed to a number of improved conditions, including:

Fairer shifts and engagements

  • Clearer provisions that any part-time employee who is directed to work in excess of their ordinary hours (without agreement to additional hours) will be paid at overtime rates for the additional hours.
  • New provision that broken shifts may only be worked by mutual agreement and that each portion of the shift must meet the minimum engagement requirements of 3 hours.

Improved support for employees

  • New paid parental leave provisions of 2 weeks paid leave for employees who are the primary carer of a child that is born or adopted.
  • New support for employees experiencing family or domestic violence with up to 5 paid days leave available if required.

 Improved annual leave provisions

  • Improved annual leave for shift workers, ensuring that aged care employees are eligible for additional annual leave if they work more than four ordinary hours on 10 or more weekends in the year.
  • Improved annual leave provisions, removing limits on annual leave being taken as single days.

Fairer pay for casuals

  • Improved casual rates for Saturday and Sunday work, with casual loading now paid in addition to the weekend shift penalties.
  • Improved overtime rates for casuals, with casual loading now paid in addition to overtime rates.
  • Improved public holiday rates for casuals, with casual loading now paid in addition to public holiday rates.

Other current conditions entitlements would remain in place and have not been changed.

You can find a copy of your proposed enterprise agreement at this link. Moran will provide a copy of the agreement and further information about the changes.

The ballot for the new agreement will take place between 9am on Tuesday 16 November 2021 and 4pm on Monday 22 November 2021.

We encourage everyone to read the proposal carefully and have a say when the ballot opens. If a majority vote ‘yes’ to accept the offer, the agreement will be sent to the Fair Work Commission for approval. If a majority vote ‘no’ the HSU will hold further discussions about the agreement.
