Changes at Whiddon Easton Park and your rights at work

Whiddon Easton Park has notified the HSU of major workplace change at Whiddon Easton Park Glenfield. As per the notification HSU received on July 25, Whiddon is proposing changes to rostered hours and ordinary hours of work.

The proposed roster will affect care employees including clinical managers, RNS and ENS and AINs. This change may result in changes to your shift times and shifts patterns, a reduction or increase to contracted hours, and potential redeployment into another business area or to another Whiddon facility.

As per the notification, Whiddon already commenced the consultation process on 25 July. Whiddon has also advised that they have met with all their employees initially to announce the change and have started the individual consultation meetings regarding the change.

Whiddon has aimed to publish their proposed roster on Monday 10 October and for the roster to be effective from October 24 2022.

At this stage, the HSU is asking Whiddon to organise a consultation meeting where members will have an opportunity to discuss the change with their Union representative present.

HSU has also asked Whiddon to provide a copy of the current rostered hours and the proposed rostered hours so Members can better understand how they may be impacted.

As consultation continues it’s important that you know your rights. You have the right:

  • To be consulted about the change. That gives you the right to raise any issues with the change and management must consider those issues.
  • To say no.  Only with agreement, a redundancy or redeployment to a comparable position should take place. Do not sign anything you are not happy with.
  • For the changes to be put to you in writing and time to consider them.
  • To representation! Ensure you are represented by the HSU. If you are affected, please contact your management but you should contact the HSU if you would like individual representation in the consultation process.

HSU Organisers will be onsite Wednesday 3 August from 9am.

If you have any concerns or queries about the change, please contact HSU Organiser Anita Bhattarai Pangeni on 0455 995 966 or [E-Mail not displayed]. Alternatively, you can ring the HSU on 1300 478 679.
