UNION WIN! St Basil’s agrees to increase rates and back pay!

Dear Member,

HSU members at St Basil’s recently raised concerns some aged care workers had not received the full 15 per cent pay increase for direct care workers, won by HSU members in the first stage of our Aged Care Work Value Case.

Following representation by HSU members, St Basil’s have acknowledged their error and have agreed to reclassify employees at Aged Care Worker 2 to Aged Care Worker 3 and increase the hourly rate from $29.76 to $30.11 in line with the Aged Care Modern Award.

St Basil’s has committed to make the change to your hourly rate by mid-December and has agreed staff will be back paid to the first full pay period on or after 30 June 2023, with back pay processed in the week commencing Monday, 18 December 2023.

St Basil’s has committed to communicate this with affected staff in the coming weeks.

The next stage of our Work Value Case is back in the Fair Work Commission next Monday, and HSU members will be pushing for a further 10 per cent pay increase for direct care workers and for the full 25 per cent pay increase for all ‘non-direct’ care workers. We need to stay strong so that nobody is left behind!
